ROCKLAND – Adas Yoshuron Synagogue, 50 Willow St., will celebrate Shavout at 7 p.m. Monday.
Shavuot is the biblical harvest festival that rabbinic tradition later associated with the revelation of the Torah on Mount Sinai. It is customary to read the Book of Ruth during the holiday.
It is traditional to eat dairy products on Shavuot, according to the synagogue’s newsletter Hashofar, because “the Torah nourishes us like mother’s milk.”
Those attending are asked to bring refreshments to share.
