ALEXANDER – A teenager from Baileyville was killed early Saturday morning in a single-car crash on Cooper Road.
Jordan Brown, 16, the son of Dawn and David Brown, died instantly in the crash, according to Deputy Thomas Chambers of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
The initial call came in at about 4:25 a.m. Saturday. According to Chambers, the vehicle Brown was driving left the road, overturned and struck a tree. The boy suffered severe head trauma in the crash and died instantly, he said.
The vehicle later caught fire and was destroyed. The Alexander Fire Department fought the blaze.
Brown did not have a license. The car he was driving belonged to a friend, Andrea Robinson, 18, of Calais. Police did not know Saturday whether Robinson knew Brown was driving the vehicle. That remains under investigation along with the cause of the accident.
The deputy said he is waiting for test results from the State Medical Examiner’s Office and from the accident reconstruction, which was done by Deputy Timothy Tabbutt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
No further details were available Sunday afternoon.
