The following are contested races for the Maine Legislature in Tuesday’s primary elections:

Maine Senate

District 7. Democrats Lawrence Steven Bliss of South Portland and Edward C. Kelleher of Scarborough will square off in the primary to represent the party from the seat relinquished by incumbent Lynn Bromley, D-South Portland, due to term limits. The southern Maine seat consists of the communities of Cumberland, Cape Elizabeth, South Portland and part of Scarborough.

District 8. Democrats Justin L. Alfond, Clifford M. Ginn and Anne M. Rand, all of Portland, are seeking their party’s nomination for the seat Ethan Strimling, D-Portland, has given up to run for Congress. The seat represents part of Portland.

District 16. Democrats Margaret M. Craven, Paul B. Madore and Elaine Makas, all of Lewiston, are running for the seat relinquished by Margaret Rotundo, D-Lewiston, due to term limits. The seat represents Lewiston.

District 21. Democrats Sharon Benoit of Monmouth and Brian Rines of Gardner are running for the right to challenge incumbent Earle L. McCormick, R-West Gardiner. The seat represents Chelsea, Farmingdale, Gardiner, Hallowell, Litchfield, Manchester, Monmouth, Pittston, Randolph, West Gardiner and Winthrop.

District 23. Democrats Joseph H. Greenier of Stockton Springs and Diane H. Messer of Liberty are running for the right to challenge incumbent Carol Weston, R-Montville. The seat represents all of Waldo County.

District 35. Democrats Troy Dale Jackson of Allagash and Gary L. Pelletier of Cross Lake are running for the seat relinquished by John L. Martin, D-Eagle Lake, due to term limits. Martin is running unopposed for House District 1, the seat held by Jackson for the past six years.

Maine House

District 6. Democrats Robert L. Glidden Jr. of Westfield and Echo Kaply-Smith of Blaine are running for the seat relinquished by Rep. Jacqueline A. Lundeen, D-Mars Hill, due to term limits. The seat represents Blaine, Bridgewater, Easton, Fort Fairfield, Mars Hill and Westfield.

District 15. In a three-way race, Democrats Adam Goode, Gerry G.M. Palmer Jr. and Roberto A. Zavaleta, all of Bangor, are running to represent the seat relinquished by Rep. Jacqueline R. Norton, D-Bangor, due to term limits. The seat represents parts of Bangor.

District 31. Republicans Judith A. Alexander of Calais and Martin T. Ingham of Robbinston are running for the seat currently held by incumbent Anne C. Perry, D-Calais. The seat represents Baileyville, Baring, Calais, Charlotte, Passamaquoddy Indian Township, Passamaquoddy Pleasant Point, Perry and Robbinston and part of the Unorganized Territory of northern Washington County.

District 32. Republicans David C. Burns of Whiting and Tony L. Maker of Machiasport are running for the seat given up by incumbent Harold Ian Emery, R-Cutler, who is stepping down after two terms. The seat represents Cutler, Eastport, Lubec, Machias, Machiasport, Roque Bluffs and Whiting, plus Trescott Township in the Unorganized Territory.

District 35. Democrats Elspeth Fleming and Gary Friedman, both of Bar Harbor, are running for the seat relinquished by incumbent Theodore S. Koffman, D-Bar Harbor, due to term limits. The seat represents Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles and part of Mount Desert and Southwest Harbor.

Ricky A. Briggs, Andre E. Cushing III and Carol S. Duprey, all of Hampden, are running for the House District 39 seat relinquished by Brian M. Duprey, R-Hampden, due to term limits. The seat represents Dixmont, Hampden and Newburgh.

District 41. In a three-way race, Republicans Maxwell G. Coolidge of Orland, R. Kenneth Lindell of Frankfort and Warren Dana Southworth Jr. of Searsport are running for the seat relinquished by incumbent Rep. Lance Widdell, D-Frankfort, who is stepping down after one term. The seat represents Orland, Verona Island, Frankfort, Prospect, Searsport and Stockton Springs.

District 50. Republicans Henry Beston Simmons of Nobleboro and Arthur E. Tainter Jr. of Waldoboro are running for the seat held by incumbent Wendy Pieh, D-Bremen. The seat represents Breman, part of Jefferson, Nobleboro and Waldoboro.

District 65. Republicans Susan H. Wasseroot and Carl J. Young, both of Woolwich, are running for the seat relinquished by Rep. Carol A. Grose, D-Woolwich, who is stepping down after three terms. The seat represents part of Brunswick, part of Bath, part of Topsham, part of West Bath and Woolwich.

District 71. Democrats Laurent F. Gilbert Sr. and Michel A. Lajoie, both of Lewiston, are running for the seat relinquished by Elaine Makas, D-Lewiston, who is stepping down after three terms to run for the state Senate. The seat represents part of Lewiston.

District 76. Democrats Henry E.M. Beck and Antone C. Tavares, both of Waterville, are running for the seat relinquished by incumbent Rep. Marilyn E. Canavan, D-Waterville, due to term limits. The seat represents part of Oakland and part of Waterville.

District 78. Republicans Erick M. Bennett and Robert W. Nutting, both of Oakland, are running for the seat relinquished by Rep. Jill Conover, D-Oakland, after one term. Prior to Conover’s election, the seat was held by Nutting until term limits forced him out two years ago. The seat represents part of Oakland and Sidney.

District 84. In the lone race pitting an incumbent against a challenger, Democrats Edward D. Finch and Paul Leo Tessier, both of Fairfield, are running for the seat held by incumbent Finch for the past six years. The seat represents Rome, Fairfield and Smithfield.

Democrats Jeffrey M. McCabe and Mitchell S. Snowman, both of Skowhegan, are running for the House District 85 seat currently held by incumbent Rep. Donna W. Finley, R-Skowhegan. The seat represents Skowhegan.

Democrats Melissa Walsh Innes and Kimberly A. McLaughlin, both of Yarmouth, are running for the House District 107 seat relinquished by independent Rep. Richard G. Woodbury of Yarmouth after one term. The seat represents Yarmouth.

Democrats Justin L. Costa and Peter C. Stuckey, both of Portland, are running for the House District 114 seat relinquished by Rep. Boyd P. Marley, D-Portland, due to term limits. The seat represents part of Portland.

District 120. Democrats Edward J. Democracy and Diane Marie Russell-Natera, both of Portland, are running for the seat held by Rep. Anne M. Rand, D-Portland, who is stepping down after one term to run for the state Senate. The seat represents part of Portland.

District 145. Republicans Beth A. O’Connor and Oscar C. Stone, both of Berwick, are running for the seat held by Rep. Richard John Burns, D-Berwick, who is stepping down after two terms. The seat represents Berwick and part of Lebanon.
