FairPoint Communications Inc. today announced that Pamela Joy has been appointed vice president of community affairs. She will be responsible for leading FairPoint’s community relations activities in all its markets. Joy, a native of Maine, has worked at FairPoint for 12 years and in the communications industry for more than 20 years. Previously, she was FairPoint’s director of marketing for the Northeast region and most recently served as director of national business marketing and media management. In her new position, she will be responsible for establishing partnerships with customers and local communities. She also will lead the company’s corporate relations activities, including managing corporate charitable contributions, local events and sponsorships and employee volunteer programs. Joy is a graduate of the University of Maine and holds an MBA from Simmons College in Boston.

Kelly Martin and George Dumond, agents with The Prudential Insurance Co. of America’s Boston Metro Agency, located at 286 West Main St., Fort Kent, have qualified for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, one of the life insurance industry’s most prestigious organizations, the company said. “Kelly and George exemplify everything that MDRT stands for – the highest standards of professionalism, competence, integrity, and putting the needs of our customers first,” said John Greene, president of agency distribution at Prudential. “We are very proud of Kelly and George and congratulate them on an outstanding year.” Martin and Dumond are residents of Fort Kent. Kevin L. Raye of Perry has been named Husson College’s executive director of university affairs. Raye will focus on external affairs and development. With offices at the Husson campuses in Eastport and Bangor, Raye will be working to advance Husson’s overall growth, including its transition from a college to a university later this year. He will devote a portion of his time to furthering Husson’s endeavors in Washington County: the Boat School at Eastport and Unobskey College in Calais. “I’m delighted to welcome Kevin Raye to Husson,” said Husson President Bill Beardsley. “He brings a unique combination of a strong background in public service at the state and federal level, valuable administrative experience, and the practical perspective of a small family business owner. Kevin will be a valuable asset to Husson as we chart our path for the future.” Raye, a state senator, owns and operates Raye’s Mustard Mill in Eastport along with his wife, Karen. Previously, he served for more than 17 years as an aide to U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, including 61/2 years as her chief of staff in Washington. Husson College was founded in 1898 and enrolls more than 2,500 students. Husson’s main campus is in Bangor with education centers in South Portland and Presque Isle, in addition to The Boat School in Eastport and Unobskey College in Calais.
