Hampden’s Littlefield shuts out Leavitt 1-0

HAMPDEN – Lacey Littlefield pitched a three-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts to lead No. 6 Hampden Academy to a 1-0 high school softball victory over No. 11 Leavitt in Class A prelim action Tuesday.

Kasey Belcher hit a leadoff double in the third inning and then scored on a fly ball error for the Broncos. Michelle Wells added a double for Hampden.

Megan Miller, Kat Rothe and Kendra Ray each hit a single for Leavitt.

Nokomis 6, Morse 4

At Newport, Danielle White hit a two-run single to highlight a four-run third inning as No. 7 Nokomis defeated No. 10 Morse.

Autumn Silke hit four singles for Nokomis. Erin Knight had two singles while Sammy Moore hit a triple for the Warriors.

Dana Wallace had a double and a single with two RBIs for Morse. Kate Thibodeau posted two singles while Hillary Pule had added a triple.

At Waldoboro, junior right-hander Kayla Vannah allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out 11 to lead No. 8 Medomak Valley to the shutout win over No. 9 Bucksport.

Tessa Dodge had a triple, two singles, two RBIs and stole home to pace Medomak Valley. Melissa Ambridge singled twice and drove in a run. Kayla Santheson hit two singles and Olivia Jameson added an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Emily Lenor and Rochelle Pelletier doubled for Bucksport.

At Old Town, sophomore Whitney Leland led off the bottom of the eighth inning with an inside-the-park home run to give No. 6 Old Town the win over No. 11 Waterville.

Sarah Wilcox singled twice for the Coyotes.

With runners on the corners and no outs in the sixth inning, Old Town turned a 5-3-2 double play to preserve the tie.

Kelsey Gagnon tripled in the second inning for Waterville. Paige Gardiner and Taylor Hart singled.

At Ellsworth, Anna Seavey hit a second-inning grand slam to spark a seven-run inning and lead No. 5 Ellsworth to victory over No. 12 Central of Corinth.

Lily Cooper had two bunt singles and two RBIs for the Eagles. Jen Richter doubled and singled with an RBI and Tasha Manning also hit a double and a single. Sarah Homich and Sabrina Jellison each singled twice.

Kristie Collins had a single, double, two triples and four RBIs to anchor Central. Sami Morin hit two singles, a double and scored three runs.

Julie Theriault and Lindsay Drost each had an RBI single for the Howlers.

Andrea Perry hit a double while Jenna Beal posted an RBI single for the Knights.

Michelle Chapman had an RBI single while Sam Conway tripled and scored for Dexter.

Anika Powers hit a two-run double in the third inning and recorded eight strikeouts for the Mariners. Audra Eaton added an RBI single in the second inning.

Brandee Beal had three singles for the Royalettes. BreAnna Beal doubled and singled with two RBIs and Hannah Carver singled twice.

Katahdin’s Danni Cyr hit a double and two singles while driving in three runs. Jasmine Pelletier added a triple and two singles.

Rachel Palmer had three singles and two RBIs to lead Washburn. Rebecca Campbell added two singles and an RBI and Kirsten Goupille singled twice.

At Mars Hill, Fort Fairfield took advantage of seven Central Aroostook errors in the seventh inning, including one to score Brittany Pelkey from third base with the winning run, to lift the No. 9 Tigers past the No. 8 Panthers.

Sarah Hebert hit two singles with two RBIs for Fort Fairfield. Courtney Churchill doubled and singled with an RBI while Katie Godin posted two singles for the Tigers.

Sarah Long hit three triples and a single with five RBIs for Central Aroostook. Alex Dame tallied two singles, a double and two RBIs while Brianna Hartin had two singles and three RBIs. Robyn Graham added a double and a single with an RBI for the Panthers.
