DEVIN LEHMAN
Lehman, a senior on the Belfast track and field team, won the Class B state championship in the discus Saturday at McMann Field in Bath. Lehman won with a throw of 137 feet, 2 inches, to edge runner-up Joe Sirois of Waterville by 1 foot, 6 inches.
Small School (Classes C-D)
BLAKE FORD
Ford, a junior on the Calais track and field team, won the Class C state championship in the shot put Saturday at Westbrook High School. Ford’s best effort was 47 feet, 83/4 inches, more than 3 feet farther than runner-up Sam Fear of North Yarmouth Academy.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
HILARY MAXIM
Old Town senior Maxim ran to victories in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs Saturday at the Class B state track and field championship meet in Bath. Maxim was timed in 5 minutes, 10.53 seconds in winning the 1,600 and 11:40.93 in the 3,200. She also anchored the Coyotes’ fifth-place 4×400-meter relay team.
Small School (Classes C-D)
KATE BULTEEL
The Orono High School sophomore sprinter won two individual events Saturday at the Class C state track and field championships at Westbrook High School. Bulteel captured the 400-meter run in 1:02.07 and later took the 200 in 26.63. The Red Riots finished third.
