HERMON – Rhonda Lyford of Winterport passed race leader Cecile Seekins of Stockton Springs when Seekins spun out while avoiding an accident, then hung onto the lead through two cautions while winning the Ladies division race during Wacky Wednesday stock car action at Speedway 95.

It was the first victory of the season for Lyford, who beat runner-up Amy Houde of Howland and Seekins, who wound up third. Jamie Rennebu of Clifton took fourth and Paula Grover of Orrington was fifth.

Oxford Plans Speedway

OXFORD – Rookie Nate Dubuc of Auburn crossed the finish line third in the 20-lap Renegade feature but was elevated to first place after two drivers failed to pass postrace inspection during Oxford Plains Speedway’s Acceleration Series.

Craig Bartlett of Waterford and Jason Hannigan of Greene wound up second and third, respectively, after Zach Bowie of Mechanic Falls and Jamie Heath of Waterford were disqualified.
