YARMOUTH – A recount is expected for a Democratic House primary race in Yarmouth that ended in a tie.

Melissa Innes and Kimberly McLaughlin each got 485 votes in Tuesday’s voting in the District 107 primary.

The ballots are expected to go the Secretary of State’s Office in Augusta for a recount. If the race is still tied, the secretary of state will draw lots to determine the winner, who will face Republican Brian Bicknell in November’s election.

Deputy Secretary of State Julie Flynn said it’s the first tie that she recalls in the 13 years she has worked on elections.
