DYER BROOK – Darin Flewelling hit a double, two singles and drove in two runs as fourth-ranked Southern Aroostook built a 7-0 lead and held on for a 7-5 Eastern Maine Class D baseball quarterfinal victory over No. 5 Fort Fairfield Thursday.

Rob Toothaker had two doubles, a single and an RBI for the Warriors. Dillon Boulier added two singles and a run scored.

Austin Dufour paced Fort Fairfield with two singles and two RBIs. Ian Towle hit an RBI single.

At Ashland, top-seeded Ashland scored nine runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth inning to defeat No. 9 Bangor Christian.

Nick Gimbel hit two singles and knocked in two runs to lead the Hornets. Tony Baker doubled and singled with an RBI and Jacob Paradis added a single, an RBI and two runs scored. Henry Milligan singled and scored three runs.

Jon Johnson and Phil Dougherty each hit RBI singles for Bangor Christian.

Tom Anderson had a triple and three RBIs for the Cougars. Matt McAvoy hit a two-run double in the fourth inning.

Matt Enman had an RBI single for Limestone and Danny Cote singled and scored a run.

At Ellsworth, Dillon Wilbur hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning to tie it at 13-13 and Ryan Maddocks brought Wilbur home with a sacrifice fly to give No. 3 Ellsworth the win over No. 6 Waterville.

Brad Folmer hit a single and a three-run triple in the fourth inning for Ellsworth. Seth Cote added a three-run double in the fourth inning. Maddocks hit three singles and Garrett Kaspala had two singles and two runs scored.

Junior Adam Kaspala pitched 2 1/3 innings of one-hit relief allowing no runs and no walks while striking out two.

Curt Chaput hit two singles and a three-run home run to lead Waterville. Tim Locke doubled and singled with three RBIs and Eli Fitzgerald added three singles and an RBI. Kyle Bishop drove in two runs on two singles.

Tyler Cates hit two singles, stole three bases and scored two runs to lead Old Town. Jason Smith hit an RBI double and Josh Coffin added an RBI single. Colin Ziegenbein had an RBI suicide squeeze.

Caribou’s Pat Thibodeau allowed three earned runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out six.

Thibodeau doubled and singled with a run scored for the Vikings. Eric Brown hit an RBI single and Seth Sager singled twice.

At Calais, Roman Hall hit a fourth-inning grand slam to help lift No. 3 Calais over No. 11 Houlton.

Jordan Leeman had two singles, an RBI and three stolen bases to lead Calais. Dylan Ramsdell and Ben Pagels each had three singles and an RBI.

Ryan Hill singled twice and drove in a run for Houlton. Porter Gervais hit an RBI double in the fifth inning and Hunter Caron added and single and two RBIs.

John Hall posted two singles and an RBI for the Raiders.

At Lincoln, Ashley Richardson’s two-run single in the top of the fourth proved to be just enough as the seventh-ranked Eagles of South China upset No. 2 Mattanawcook Academy.

Sam Morse, who gave up one run on seven hits, singled twice for Erskine.

Renee Libbey hit a run-scoring single while Bree Hanscom produced two singles for the Lynx.

At East Sullivan, Brenn Alexander scored the winning run from third on an infield error in the bottom of the seventh inning as No. 1 Sumner of East Sullivan survived a scare from No. 8 Penquis of Milo.

Shelby Fowles singled in the first inning and came around to score to give Penquis a 1-0 lead.

Sumner scored twice in the fifth, as Morgan Traxler tripled and scored on a single by Angela Leach to highlight the rally.

Penquis then tied the game in the sixth.

Tashia Daley scattered four hits and struck out 10 batters to earn the pitching win.

Erica Lyford pitched a four-hitter with five strikeouts for Penquis.

Traxler finished with a triple and a single, while Leach singled twice.

Christin McKenzie singled twice for Penquis.

The right-handers allowed no runs on four walks and 11 strikeouts.

Bangor Christian’s Moriah Bach hit two doubles and a single to drive in four runs and Becca Smith had two singles, a double and four runs scored.

Chelsea Brasslett, Kelly Robinson and French each had two singles and three RBIs. Libbey Long added a double and three RBIs.

Sam Lycette walked three times to pace Hodgdon.

Kim Geary had two singles while Lauren McGary hit a double for Southern Aroostook.

Andrea Mayo hit a single and a solo home run in the fifth inning to knock in three runs for the Hornets. Crystal Cook had a double, three singles and two RBIs. Whitney Flint struck out eight in 3 2/3 innings.

Courtney Chuchill hit grand slam in the fourth inning to lead Fort Fairfield. Maryl Shaw singled twice.
