Brewer High School

Brewer High School Principal Rebecca Bubar has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2008. The commencement ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at the Bangor Auditorium. Tickets are not required.

Sarah E. Risser, daughter of William and Sharon Risser of Brewer, has been named valedictorian. She will attend Husson College, majoring in pharmacy.

Risser is a member of the Se Beowulf Honors English Club, Key Club and math team. She has received the AP Scholar Award, Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, the English, mathematics and science departmental awards, Superintendent’s Certificate, tri-athlete letter and Lesley M. Ohmart Jr. Female Athlete of the Year Award. She was the recipient of the Maine Principals’ Association Leadership Award. Sarah was a member of the soccer, winter track and softball teams. She was named to the Penobscot Valley All-Conference softball team and was a PVC scholar-athlete. She was named to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference academic soccer team and was a KVAC top scholar.

Travis L. Blackmer, son of Bruce and Sandra Blackmer of Dedham, has been named salutatorian. He will attend the University of Maine, majoring in economics.

Blackmer is a member of the National Honor Society and math team. He has been named an AP Scholar with distinction and received the AP U.S. History Award, AP Macroeconomics Award, Dirigo Boy’s State Medal, Superintendent’s Certificate, tri-athlete letter, Four-year Perfect Attendance Award, and the science departmental award. He was a member of the cross-country, winter track and tennis teams. He was named a Penobscot Valley All-Conference scholar-athlete and a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference academic top scholar.

John M. Williams, son of John and Eileen Williams of Clifton, will deliver the president’s message. He will attend Yale University, majoring in Economics.

Nathan L. Eldridge, son of Lynn Green of Brewer, will deliver a graduation essay. He will attend Eastern Maine Community College, majoring in liberal studies.

Leeann M. Williams, daughter of Nevin and Kim Williams of Brewer, will deliver a graduation essay. She will attend Bob Jones University, majoring in elementary education.
