ASHLAND – Woodland’s Shelby Bassett pitched a no-hitter, but top-seeded Ashland scratched out a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a 1-0 victory in their Eastern Maine Class D softball semifinal.

Taylor Baker reached on a walk and scored the game’s only run on a throwing error for the Hornets.

Ashland’s Whitney Flint improved to 17-0 allowing two hits and five walks with 15 strikeouts to earn the shutout.

Woodland’s Shelby Bassett pitched a no-hitter, allowing one unearned run and two seventh-inning walks wile striking out 14 for No. 4 Woodland.

Ashley Laking singled in the third and Bassett singled in the fourth for the Dragons.

Medomak Valley 13, John Bapst 6

At Bangor, Rachel Keefe singled, doubled and homered to drive in three runs and lead No. 8 Medomak Valley of Waldoboro past No. 4 John Bapst.

Tessa Dodge had a double and two singles with four RBIs for the Panthers and Kayla Santheson hit a double and a single and knocked in four runs.

Ellen Umphrey led John Bapst with two singles and Abby Perkins doubled with an RBI.

At Calais, Nicole Osborne’s RBI single in the fourth inning provided the margin of victory as the second-seeded Blue Devils advanced to the Eastern Maine championship game.

Courtney Hill stroked a two-run single and Alex McVicar rapped a run-scoring double to spark Calais’ three-run second inning. Shannon Brown also singled to back winning pitcher Tessa Clark, who pitched a four-hitter.

Losing pitcher Nikki Eastman paced No. 3 Houlton with a two-run single in the fifth. She also scattered four hits.

Courtney Putnam, Erika Lackey and Chelsi Murray singled for the Shiretowners.

At East Sullivan, Lona Sargent and Morgan Traxler hit RBI triples to help push No. 1 Sumner past No. 4 Washington Academy of East Machias.

Kayla Higgins had two singles and an RBI for Sumner. Bren Alexander knocked in two runs and Angela Leach doubled. Tashia Daley recorded nine strikeouts.

Bree Nicely hit a three-run triple in the seven-run fifth inning for the Raiders. Kayla Wood had a triple, two singles and an RBI. Andi Flannery doubled and singled, Joslyn Corey hit two singles and Irene Lewey tripled.

At Limestone, Jillian French allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out 14 to give No. 3 Bangor Christian the win over previously undefeated and second-seeded Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Christie Pelletier poked two singles and knocked in two runs for the Patriots. Libby Long and Kelly Robinson each singled three times.

Kellie Peers had two singles and a run scored for the Eagles. Victoria St. Pierre hit an RBI double and Chelsea Leighton singled.
