AUBURN – Two Maine State Police detectives have arrived in Illinois to interview a Lewiston couple being held as material witnesses in connection with a fatal stabbing last week in a park in Auburn.

Ryan Muncey, 28, and Alisha Turner, 25, were taken into custody over the weekend and are being held at Tri-County Jail in Ullin, Ill.

Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Stephen McCausland said detectives planned to interview the couple about the Wednesday evening slaying of Casey Stanley, 26, who died of a stab wound in the chest.

McCausland said no decision has been made on whether any additional charges will be filed against Turner and Muncey.

The couple’s two children, a 2-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter, are staying with relatives in Illinois.
