Allen cashes in on Double O challenge

HERMON – Winterport’s Billie Allen answered a challenge and pocketed an extra $70 for her efforts at the Wacky Wednesday race card at Speedway 95.

Track co-owner Del Merritt offered an additional $50 to any woman who won the Double O race in the Little Enduro division and Wayne Elston’s Speed Shop tossed another $20 into the pot.

And Allen triumphed.

The Double O race consists of one lap around the one-third mile oval and one lap around the one-fifth mile inner oval. The inner oval was partially submerged in water.

Old Town’s David Ogden was second with Brooks’ Patrick Cook finishing third.
