FusionBangor, Bangor’s networking group for young professionals and students, will host a series of professional development seminars 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Dyke Center for Family Business on the Husson College campus. The cost is $15 per session or $50 for all four. Lunch is included. Attend all four and receive a certificate of completion. Expert speakers from throughout the region will give hands-on tips, tools and skills.

The first session is “Fusion Forward: Career Navigation – Making Your Own Path” on Wednesday, June 25. Presenter will be Amy Jaffe from Heart at Work career counseling.

Other sessions planned are “Young Professionals Succeeding in a Multi-Generational Workforce,” Sept. 24; “How Young Professionals Can Get Involved in Their Community and Be Effective on Boards,” Jan. 28; “The Young Manager: Skills for Success,” March 25.

FusionBangor will meet at noon Thursday, June 19, at Wellman Commons, at the old Bangor Theological Seminary, 288 Union St. The speaker will be Richard Pattenaude, chancellor of the University of Maine System.

The group also will meet at noon Thursday, July 17, at Wellman Commons. The speaker will be Jerry Whalen, vice president of business development for Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems.

The Fuse Cruise is set for 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, down the Penobscot River. Leave from the Bangor waterfront and enjoy free food, a cash bar and music from the 1980s. The excursion is for adults only and the cost is $50.

Film viewing, star gazing

View “Seeing in the Dark,” a 60-minute, state-of-the-art, high-definition PBS star-gazing documentary by Timothy Ferris, 7-8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Challenger Learning Center, 30 Venture Way.

According to PBS, “the film introduces viewers to hands-on astronomy from kids learning the constellations to amateur astronomers doing professional-grade research in discovering planets and exploding stars.

After the film, all are welcome to make star-gazing wheels and learn about the five circum-polar constellations.

For those who would like to stay past sunset, star viewing will take place after the program.
