DEXTER – A local man was killed Friday morning when his bicycle was struck by a car on Route 23.

Norman Babb, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:30 a.m. accident that occurred a few hundred yards beyond the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Witnesses to the accident told Dexter Police Chief Art Roy that Babb, who was headed north, pulled out into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by Geraldine Tremblay, 71, of Dexter.

Roy said Babb struck the windshield of Tremblay’s vehicle. Tremblay was not injured, he said.

Babb was wearing a helmet.

Dexter firefighters, Mayo Regional Hospital ambulance and Dexter Cpl. Alan Grinnell assisted Roy at the scene.
