It is very disconcerting to hear people who were strong Hillary Clinton supporters say they will vote for John McCain rather than for Barack Obama.

I have to ask those people to consider what was their reason for supporting Hillary, a strong Democrat, in the first place. If it wasn’t because of the values and political ideals she espoused, why would one choose to vote for her?

John McCain is certainly a fine, upright citizen with an admirable personal history, but his political views are so far removed from Sen. Clinton’s as to make me wonder why any intelligent, thinking person would consider that a vote for him would be a reasonable alternative to a vote for any Democrat. It would be far better not to vote at all.

It’s a bit scary to realize what some are using as a criterion for voting. No wonder our free democratic nation has gotten into such a mess.
