Lincoln teen injured in I-95 rollover

ARGYLE – A Lincoln teenager was taken to the hospital Friday after she fell asleep at the wheel and rolled her car over in the Interstate 95 median.

Marjorie Nesin, 18, was driving southbound on Interstate 95 just before 1 p.m. when she appeared to have fallen asleep at the wheel in Argyle near mile marker 202, said Trooper Darren Vittum of the Maine State Police. Nesin apparently overcorrected the steering wheel, drove into the median and rolled the 2004 Hyundai Elantra onto its roof, Vittum said.

Nesin was wearing a seat belt, and only suffered cuts on her hands and knees, he said. She was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center by ambulance. The car was a total loss.

Speed and alcohol were not considered to be factors in the crash, he said.

Traffic on Interstate 95 was reduced to one lane for 10 to 15 minutes, but the second lane was soon restored. (Toni-Lynn Robbins, BDN)

A fast moving thunderstorm Friday night knocked out power to parts of Main Street in Bangor, including at the Bangor Daily News.

A lightning strike is believed to have caused the outage, which started at about 10:10 p.m. and lasted an hour and 35 minutes at the BDN offices. While power was restored to some parts of Main Street, Bangor Hydro-Electric crews continued to work on the problem after midnight.
