Ciomei, Tweedie help Acadians record sweep

PRESQUE ISLE – The Trenton Acadians swept the Presque Isle Patriots 6-2 and 20-4 in an American Legion baseball doubleheader Saturday.

In the first game, Collin Ciomei tripled and singled (RBI), while Calvin Tweedie doubled and singled.

Matt Chasse led Presque Isle with a two-run double.

In the second game, Tweedie hit a two-run homer to lead a 17-hit attack for Trenton.

Nick Saunders had two singles and a double and Lucas Marks three singles and a double for the winners.

Pat Thibodeau had two singles and Matt Enman a single and a double for Presque Isle.

Steamboat sweeps Lincoln

At Lincoln, Steamboat Petroleum of Waldo County took a Saturday doubleheader from Lincoln, 3-2 in the first game and 5-4 in the second, with the nightcap going eight innings.

In the first game, Steamboat took advantage of a throwing error to score two runs in the fifth which provided the margin of victory.

Jeff Davis tripled and singled and Jake Arthers singled twice for the winners.

Evan McCarthy had two doubles (RBI) and Ivan Voisine and RBI double for Lincoln.

In the second game, Ethan McHatten’s RBI single in the eighth lifted the Wildcats to the victory.

Arthers knocked a two-run homer and RBI double, while Josh Nickerson doubled.

Tyson Tash hit a solo homer and Lance Bernier and Andy Kay each doubled and singled for Lincoln.
