The single-copy price of the weekday edition (Monday-Friday) of the Bangor Daily News, currently 60 cents, will increase to 75 cents at newsstands and stores beginning today, June 30.

This is the first increase in the retail price of the paper since September 1996. “Rising costs, including the cost of transportation and newsprint, made this increase necessary,” said Circulation Director Jim Hayes, who emphasized that the increase would not affect the Saturday-Sunday edition, which will remain $1.50,

or home delivery rates.
