ROCKPORT – Two people were rescued Wednesday night from a 40-foot lobster boat that caught fire just off the coast around 4 p.m.

Coast Guard Chief Chris Wheeler reported that the Miss Melinda out of Rockport was a total loss, but that the two people on board weren’t injured. They were taken ashore by the Coast Guard unit out of Rockland.

Information wasn’t available regarding the names of those on board or the boat’s owner, or whether the boat was insured.
