Maguire powers undefeated Falcons to 4th win

SEARSPORT – Chris Maguire hit a three-run home run in the first inning and added a single while scoring three runs overall as the Brewer Falcons remained unbeaten with a 7-3 American Legion Zone 1 baseball victory over Steamboat Petroleum on Wednesday.

The game was called after six innings due to fog.

Billy Bissell also homered for Brewer, while Eric White singled twice and Chase Daniels doubled.

Steamboat Petroleum got solo home runs from Josh Nickerson, Tyler Miles and Nate Adams. Nickerson also singled.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ian Champeon hit a single, scored twice and knocked in a run to help Penquis past Trenton.

Nick Lancisi singled twice for the Navigators, while Josiah Richard hit an RBI single and Scott Kelley added a single and a run scored.

Josh Astbury singled twice and scored a run for Trenton and Nick Saunders hit an RBI single.

At Lincoln, Ivan Voisine and Jason LeVasseur each singled home two runs to highlight a five-run second inning that lifted the Lincoln Lumber to victory.

Hampden had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, with Caleb Kirk contributing an RBI single.

But Tyler Tash held the Riverdogs to just one run over the next five innings, and Peter Coggins pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.

Lance Bernier doubled and singled for Lincoln, while Andy Kay singled twice.

Cody Johndro singled twice for Hampden, while Josh Tardiff doubled.

Bangor 8, Presque Isle 7

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Kyle Vanidestine hit a two-run double and Chad Kelley added an RBI single in the fifth inning as the Comrades held off Presque Isle.

Vanidestine also had two singles for Bangor, while Ian Edwards hit a three-run homer in the first inning, Gordon Webb doubled and singled and Kelley finished with two singles.

Edwards also earned the pitching save, striking out the side in the seventh inning to preserve the win for starter Alan Reese.

Matt Chasse tripled and singled for Presque Isle, while Pat Thibodeau doubled and singled with three RBIs and Logan McLaughlin singled twice, scored twice and had two RBIs.

Montville 6, Union Street 5

At Hermon, Ian Lee hit a two-out triple in the fourth inning and scored the winning run on a wild pitch to give Montville the victory over Union Street Cleaners.

Lee hit a triple, double and two singles and drove in five runs for Montville. Mike Cummons singled and scored twice. Nate Hall pitched four innings of relief allowing no runs, no walks, one hit and striking out eight.

Scott Hackett had two singles and three RBIs for Union Street Cleaners. George Keefe singled three times and Barrett Dionne added an RBI single.
