MARS HILL – Maine State Police are continuing to investigate a stabbing that took place July 3 on an ATV trail here.

State police Sgt. Julie Bergan said Monday that investigators had no new information to release in the stabbing of Brent Folsom, 39, of Mars Hill, but were continuing to investigate the incident.

State police said Folsom told investigators he was walking on an ATV trail in Mars Hill at approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday when he was stabbed.

Investigators are calling the incident “suspicious.”

Folsom was taken by ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. He was reported to be in stable condition in the hours immediately after the incident.

Further information on his condition was not available Monday.

No other details about the stabbing or clues to a possible assailant have been released, but investigators have said they believe this is an “isolated incident.”

Several troopers and detectives from the Maine State Police criminal division responded to the call. Trooper Rob Flynn is leading the investigation.
