LUBEC – “Mischief, Mayhem & Oddities of Love” is the first solo art exhibit of Sherry Ashby Cunningham, a native of Lubec. Now showing through July 31 at the Lubec Library, the exhibit showcases the artist’s range, including paintings, graphite portraits, linocut prints and mixed media.

“Growing up in Lubec provided me with an ever-changing visual landscape,” Cunningham said. “I’m captivated by the beautifully rich light that takes on an ethereal quality and imbues everything it touches with an otherworldliness.”

A graduate of Lubec High School, Cunningham has studied art at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, the LaNapoule Art Foundation in France, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and at the University of Maine at Machias.

The public is invited to an art reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Lubec Library. Ten percent of art sales will be donated to the library. Cunningham’s work also is on display at the Eastport Gallery, where she is a new member.
