Veterans for Peace awarded $500 grant

The Bangor chapter of Veterans for Peace has been awarded a grant that it will use to raise public awareness of what it says are “the true costs and consequences of militarism and war and to seek peaceful, effective alternatives.”

Al Larson, secretary for Veterans for Peace in Bangor, said in a news release that the $500 grant came from RESIST, a national foundation based in Somerville, Mass.

Veterans for Peace, among other things, makes presentations to students in area schools.

It was established in 1985 in Portland and has grown to include some 145 chapters, with representation in every state.
