BANGOR – The 24th annual Charlie Howard memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 13, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 120 Park St.
Howard died on July 7, 1984, after three teenage boys threw him off a bridge in downtown Bangor and he drowned in Kenduskeag Stream. He was 23.
After the service, worshippers will walk to the State Street bridge near Bangor Savings Bank and cast flowers into the stream in remembrance.
The guest minister Sunday will be the Rev. Richard A. Forcier, pastor of the First Universalist Church in Barre, Vt. Forcier was the student minister at the former Bangor Unitarian Church from 1982 to 1985, where Howard worshipped. He officiated at Howard’s funeral.
