Jovan Belcher, a senior defensive end at the University of Maine, has been named a first-team Preseason All-American by Phil Steele’s 2008 College Football Preview Magazine.

Belcher, who was chosen as a second-team Preseason All-American last month by Lindy’s Publications, was an All-Colonial Athletic Association first-team choice last season after leading the league in sacks and tackles for a loss.

Belcher and Black Bears senior tailback Jhamal Fluellen were named to Steele’s Preseason All-CAA first team, while senior offensive tackle Chris Arnao and senior linebacker Andrew Downey were second-team honorees.
