PORTLAND – Baseball fans wanting to see Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz during his rehabilitation assignment with the Portland Sea Dogs have snatched up all available tickets.

Team officials say it took 20 minutes Monday for the ticket office to sell all 500 remaining tickets for three games in which Ortiz is expected to wear a Sea Dogs jersey.

Red Sox Manager Terry Francona says Ortiz is tentatively scheduled to return to the team on July 25, the opening game of a weekend series at Fenway Park against the New York Yankees.

Between now and then, Ortiz is expected to play in three games in Triple-A Pawtucket, followed by three games in Double-A Portland.

Ortiz has been on the disabled list since May 31 because of a partial tear of the sheath that surrounds the tendon in his left wrist.
