MONCTON, New Brunswick – The province’s first casino will have 600 slot machines and borrow its style from the grand old hotels in Banff, Alberta, and St. Andrews, New Brunswick, the private consortium behind the Moncton-area project announced Tuesday.
Plans for the $90 million facility, which will include a convention center and hotel, were unveiled in May. Sonco Gaming New Brunswick Ltd. released more details Tuesday, confirming the complex will be built south of the Trans-Canada Highway on Mountain Road.
Besides slot machines, the casino will have 20 table games, eight poker tables and enough room for 350 guests to sit down for drinks and meals.
Separate buildings will house the hotel, casino and convention center, but all will be linked by an enclosed walkway.
Maine has one casino, Hollywood Slots at Bangor, which has 1,000 slot machines but no table games.
