Bangor man hurt in Winterport crash

WINTERPORT – A Bangor man was hospitalized with minor injuries after the pickup truck he was driving was struck by a dump truck on North Main Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Jerimy Grindle, 31, of Bangor, who complained of body pain, was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center by Hampden Ambulance after the 12:28 p.m. accident on Route 1A.

Waldo County Chief Deputy Robert Keating said Grindle was making door-to-door deliveries of meat in a Chevrolet pickup truck owned by MRE Management of Hermon when he pulled into the path of the Stargate 10-wheel dump truck owned by Dale Ross of Passadumkeag and driven by Jason Maguire, 35, of Titusville, Fla.

Maguire told investigating officers Damien Stone and Ben Seekins that he noticed the pickup leave the driveway and assumed it would proceed straight down the road but it turned instead into another driveway. Maguire attempted to avoid hitting the pickup by passing it on the right but the truck turned in front of him.

Both trucks skidded to a halt on the front lawn of a nearby house. Damage was estimated at $6,000 to the pickup truck and $100 to the dump truck, Keating said.
