HAMPDEN – Jesse Wood pitched a three-hitter Wednesday as Bangor defeated Orono-Veazie 5-0 to win the District 3 Junior League baseball crown.
Orono-Veazie had defeated Brewer 15-6 to advance to the title game.
In the second game, Adam King plated two runs with a triple for Bangor while Cody Savage doubled and singled with two RBIs. Luke Hetterman added a double and a single.
Josh Storgaard doubled for Orono-Veazie.
In the first game, Nick Cota had two singles and a triple to drive in three runs to lead Orono-Veazie past Brewer.
Tyler Eddy doubled twice and singled (3 RBIs) while Cameron Dwyer knocked in two with a double and a single.
Yuhi Sasaki notched two singles and Nick Moore a double and single for Brewer.

At Bangor East, Brendan Moore hit a two-out double to drive in Reed Brookings to give Bangor East the lead and the win over Millinocket.
Bangor East handed Millinocket its first loss and forced another championship game to be played today at 5:30 p.m. in Old Town.
Justin Courtney and Brookings combined for 10 strikeouts for Bangor East.
Brookings doubled and singled and Nick Ashey hit two singles.
Derrick Tanous drove in Mitchell Bradford on a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning for Millinocket’s lone run.

At Machias, tighthander Steven Mahon tossed a three-hitter and Brian Jones’ two-run single keyed a seven-run first inning that Ellsworth to their first District 1 Little League baseball championship.
The game ended in the fifth inning via the 10-run rule.
Ellsworth, which won six straight after opening tourney play with a loss, travels to Lebanon to open play in the state tournament on Friday.
Mahon struck out five and didn’t walk anybody. He hit a batter.
Mitch Domagala tripled for the winners. Jacob Poors (RBI) and Jake Maguire each doubled. Mitch Brooks and Dylan Young had run-scoring singles.
Gage Feeney doubled and singled for Machias and Logan Wood singled.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Brad Melanson’s two-run single in the bottom of the seventh drove home the winning run as Hampden eliminated Orono-Veazie.
Jared Theriault’s one-out single started the winning rally after Orono-Veazie tied the game with three runs in the top of the seventh.
Alex Cust doubled and singled with three RBIs for the winners, while Theriault singled twice with an RBI.
Don Lesser doubled and singled for Orono-Veazie, while Bill Wetherbee and Charlie Boyle each singled twice.

At Orrington, Kalie Theberge hit two singles and a triple to lead Hermon past eliminated Hampden.
Allessa Oakes and Katie Corey each singled four times for Hermon.
Laura Doyon singled in the third inning for Hampden and Taylor Clement scored the run.
