Church names youth pastor

BANGOR – Neighborhood Church has announced that Josh Williams has been appointed to the position of youth pastor. He and his family moved to Brewer in March after several years of service in Horseheads, N.Y.

“We are really excited to have Josh join us,” said Brian Haggerty, senior pastor at the church. “He brings several years of youth ministry experience to his new role here at Neighborhood Church.

“Our church is growing and we’ve been searching for a youth pastor for about a year,” Haggerty said. “We selected Josh based on his passion and excitement for young people. His ‘out of the box’ approach of reaching young people is sure to attract the youth in our community.”

Williams previously served as youth-young adults leader at Glad Tidings Christian Life Church in Horseheads, N.Y., leading weekly youth and young adult group activities. In addition, he directed a monthly youth outreach program, a music ministry called “The G.A.T.E.,” or Generation Above the Enemy, for the purpose of giving youth a safe place to build relationships and to learn the teaching of the church.

“I’m excited to be here in Bangor,” Williams said. “My wife, Cindy, and I could sense God calling us to Neighborhood Church to expand youth ministry and outreach. We can’t wait to get started and see what God has in store for this church and community.”

Located at 263 Texas Ave., Bangor, the old Dow Air Force Base chapel on the University College of Bangor campus, Neighborhood Church is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, a worldwide faith and interdenominational missionary society.
