HOLDEN – Town leaders decided Monday to advertise to fill a one-year post on the SAD 63 board of directors.
Town councilors voted unanimously to seek applications from residents and to conduct interviews and select a new school board member at their Aug. 6 meeting. Town Manager John Butts said several people already have filled out applications.
The school board seat became vacant when Patricia Sirois resigned in December leaving the remaining year and a half on her three-year term. Town leaders appointed Don Varnum to the position until June, when voters elected resident Kevin Mills to fill the vacancy, and Varnum to a three-year post on the board. Mills resigned last month because of a conflict of interest, leaving councilors the job of replacing him.
