BANGOR – Anyone interested in getting more than 100 miles a gallon should head out and purchase a raffle ticket for a new Schwinn scooter being offered by the Bangor Kiwanis Club.

“It gets 117 miles to the gallon and all you need is a regular driver’s license to drive it,” Peter Golding, club president, said Friday.

The 49.5 cc scooter, a 2006 Schwinn Graduate, has 7.8 miles on its odometer and was offered up by club member Irene Hafford, who recently won it from an Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce drawing.

“You can’t drive it on the interstate, but you can drive it on any state road,” Golding said.

The estimated value is $2,300. The blue scooter is parked in a window at The UPS Store on Hogan Road, where tickets are available for $10 each or three for $25 from club member Rick Marston. The drawing will be held Aug. 1.

For more information, call Golding at 735-8357. The club meets at 5 p.m. at Geaghan’s restaurant on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
