Creative process topic of artist’s Belfast talk

BELFAST – Painter and installation artist Avy Claire will present her work and talk about the creative process at Waterfall Arts at 7 p.m. Monday, July 28, as part of the Artists Lecture Series.

Claire is this year’s artist-in-residence at Waterfall Arts and has spent the past two weeks installing her work in the Clifford Gallery and creating a large outdoor piece with collaborators on the grounds of the center’s Montville location.

Claire has had residencies at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming and Topaz Arts in New York. Her work has been included in exhibitions in New York, Maine, Pennsylvania, Chicago and California. Claire lives and works in Maine and New York. Her latest installation, For the Trees, will be on display in Waterfall Arts Clifford Gallery through Aug. 31.

The Artist Lecture Series at Waterfall Arts, now in its sixth year, features presentations by regionally and nationally recognized artists, poets, writers and art historians, followed by lively discussions.

Admission is $5 at the door; high school and college students are free. Waterfall Arts Belfast is at 256 High St. Hours at the Clifford Gallery are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; until 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and by appointment.
