PITTSFIELD – Local police are investigating the overnight burglaries Tuesday of two residential garages on Madawaska Avenue.
Both homeowners reported the burglaries Tuesday morning but Officer Marty Cochran said the events happened between 10 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
At the first home, a back door on the garage was broken and tools, batteries and a battery charger with a combined value of $450 was taken.
At the second home, entry was made to a garage playroom through a dog kennel that is part of the garage, Cochran said. The playroom is used for a day care service and the burglars took an Xbox and various games valued at several hundred dollars. Cochran said the burglar apparently passed the electronic equipment out a window to a second person.
Cochran cautioned residents to lock vehicles, garages and homes and to report any suspicious activity to the police at 487-3101.
