PORTLAND – A man accused of firing shots into a sushi restaurant is free on $20,000 bail after pleading not guilty to four felony counts.

Prosecutors say 29-year-old Hoang Nguyen was kicked out of the Ginza Town restaurant last month after he got into a confrontation with a waiter. Police say he returned with a gun and several shots were fired during an ensuing struggle.

The waiter suffered a burn on his hand from the slide or muzzle of the gun.

Charges against Nguyen include elevated aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a firearm. His bail conditions require him to stay away from the restaurant.
