BANGOR – WQCB-FM 106.5 and Danforth’s Down Home Supermarket will sponsor the 27th annual Colgate Country Showdown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the Bangor State Fair.

The event is billed as featuring “the best and most entertaining talent in the area.” Admission to the show is free with paid fair admission.

Acts will compete for the opportunity to compete at the New England States Colgate Country Showdown on Oct. 4 at the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, Mass., where winners of local contests will vie for a $1,000 cash prize and advance to a regional competition. The five regional winners will win an all-expense-paid trip to the national finals, where they will compete for the $100,000 grand prize and the national title.

The Colgate Country Showdown, organizers said, gives aspiring country music artists in America a chance to launch professional careers.
