PORTLAND – Mike Caiazzo of Westbrook bested a field of 13 athletes to win the elite division of the Zone Urban Epic triathlon Saturday.

Caiazzo turned in a winning time of 2 hours, 19 minutes, 58 seconds to secure his second Maine triathlon victory in two weeks.

Becky Lavelle, who is headed to Beijing to participate in the Olympics, was first for the women in the elite division with a time of 2:25:54.

Paul Noone of Worcester, Mass., was the overall winner of 221 participants with a time of 2:17:58. Thorndike’s Thomas McWaters finished second (2:24:32), Falmouth’s Steven Tenney was third (2:24:59), fourth was Farmington’s Robert Straznitskas (2:25:27) and Thomas McGee of Ottawa, Ontario, finished fifth with a time of 2:25:50.
