HOULTON – State police investigated a motorcycle accident on Route 162 in T17 R5, Cross Lake, on Saturday in which one man was seriously injured, according to Sgt. Tom Pelletier in a press release.
Injured in the 3:30 p.m. accident was 44-year-old Mark Theriault who was headed east on Route 162 when he lost control of his 1989 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, police said.
The motorcycle left the roadway and ejected Theriault, whose hometown information was not released. Theriault had serious head injuries from the crash. He was taken by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent. Later he was taken by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. A nursing supervisor reported Monday that Theriault was in fair condition.
The motorcycle was substantially damaged.
Theriault was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the press release. The accident is being investigated by Trooper Dan Marquis.
