BANGOR – A documentary film about the conflict between Palestinians and Jewish Israelis as seen through the eyes of seven children in Israel will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bangor Opera House.

There is no admission charge.

“Promises” explores the nature of the physical, historical and emotional boundaries that exist between the two groups of children, who live just 20 minutes apart. Rather than focus on political events, the children offer a refreshing, human and sometimes humorous portrait of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, according to River City Cinema, a co-sponsor of the showing.

Members of the co-sponsoring organization, the Eastern Maine Chapter of Brit Tzedek v’Shalom, or, the Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace will lead a discussion after the showing about the film and the prospects for peace in the Middle East.
