AUGUSTA – Drew Powell and Ethan Dorman combined on a one-hit shutout to power Bangor East by Ellsworth 5-0 in an elimination game at the state Little League All-Star baseball tourney for ages 9-10 Tuesday.

Bangor East advances to the championship round against Cape Elizabeth scheduled for today at 5:30 p.m.

Cape Elizabeth is unbeaten in the double-elimination tourney, so a Bangor East win would force a second game for the title on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. A Cape win on Wednesday gives it the title.

Ryan Brookings posted two singles and an RBI while Ben Crichton had a double for Bangor East.

Alex Braley hit a triple for Ellsworth.

State tourney, 9-10

Saco 10, Bangor 2

At Waldoboro, Bailey Tremblay hit a three-run triple to highlight a five-run third inning as Saco defeated Bangor in an elimination game.

Tremblay finished with two triples and four RBIs while Kayla Haley added a two-run single for Saco.

Tremblay was also the winning pitcher as she didn’t allow a Bangor hit.

Saco advanced to today’s elimination-round game against South Portland at 5 p.m. The winner of that game advances to Thursday’s championship round against unbeaten Calais (3-0) at 3 p.m.

A Calais victory gives it the state title while a loss forces a second game later that day for the title.

Bangor (1-2) 011 000 – 2 6 0

Saco (2-1) 305 02x – 10 4 6

Stewart, Cassum (3) and Cosgrove; Tremblay and Dagraca

Correction: A shorter version of these results ran in the State edition.
