WISCASSET – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing Ohio man.
James Lohrey, 60, was reported missing by his family to the Willoughby, Ohio, Police Department on July 16, 2008. He has not been seen or heard from since June 2007. The family did not make an earlier complaint due to his being a frequent, impulsive international traveler who often disappeared for months at a time.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was contacted after a Willoughby police detective discovered that Lohrey’s registration plates had been checked several times by the sheriff’s office in August and September 2007.
In August 2007, Lohrey’s car, a silver 1996 Pontiac Firebird with Ohio plates, was discovered by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office abandoned in the Grimes Cove parking lot off Route 96 in the Ocean Point area of East Boothbay.
Local residents reported the car had been there for most of the summer. In October 2007, the car was removed from the lot by a local towing service at the lot owner’s request. All attempts to contact the owner at that time failed. The car remains in storage.
Lohrey is a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone who may have had contact with Lohrey or has information as to his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Robert McFetridge of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 882-7332.
