Higgins wins 50-lap feature

HERMON – Newburgh’s Paul Higgins started the Mac Tools/New England Transmission 50-lap Little Enduro feature event at Speedway 95 in the pole position and drove the final eight laps in the same spot Wednesday night.

In between, Higgins maintained his position in the top five as the race progressed and then rode out five red flags before making his move in the closing laps. He passed Jason Trundy of Old Town on the 42nd lap and never relinquished the lead to pocket a $600 check.

Less than half the field finished the race, but Trundy finished second, Holden’s Steve Moulton was third, Milo’s Mike Witham fourth, and Mark Sawyer of Orrington fifth.
