HERMON – Newburgh’s Paul Higgins started the Mac Tools/New England Transmission 50-lap Little Enduro feature event at Speedway 95 in the pole position and drove the final eight laps in the same spot Wednesday night.

In between, Higgins maintained his position in the top five as the race progressed and then rode out five red flags before making his move in the closing laps. He passed Jason Trundy of Old Town on the 42nd lap and never relinquished the lead to pocket a $600 check.

Less than half the field finished the race, but Trundy finished second, Holden’s Steve Moulton was third, Milo’s Mike Witham fourth, and Mark Sawyer of Orrington fifth.

Oxford Plains Speedway

At Oxford, the fourth time was the charm for Oxford’s Missy Blash, who had been in the lead in her last three Allen’s Coffe Brandy Ladies Division starts only to lose in the final laps.

That wouldn’t be the case Wednesday night as she held off six-time feature winner Dottie Patria of Turner to earn her first win in the 20-lap Acceleration Series. Deanna Robertson of South Paris was third, Vanna Brackett of Oxford fourth, and Lisa Vining of Turner fifth.
