SEARSPORT – Police are investigating two business burglaries that were discovered early Wednesday.

Police Chief Dick LeHaye said Coastal Coffee and the Bouchard Insurance Agency on East Main Street were likely hit overnight. The break in at Coastal Coffee was discovered by an employee. Entrance was gained by forcing a rear window.

A passerby reported the break in at the insurance company when he observed an open window with an air conditioning unit dislodged and hanging from its power cord, LeHaye said. Chief LeHaye said items were taken in both breaks in but declined to reveal what they were as the investigation is ongoing.

“Citizens and businesses should make sure their windows and doors are secured and should report all suspicious activity,” LeHaye said.
