A Brewer man who was under orders not to consume or possess alcohol was arrested early Saturday morning in front of a Bangor bar.

Bernard Landry, 35, was standing on State Street in front of The Tavern at about 12:25 a.m. when Officer Richard Polk approached Landry and asked him for identification. Polk found Landry was on bail with the conditions not to consume or possess alcohol.

Polk could smell alcohol on Landry and arrested him. Landry was charged for violation of bail conditions. It was unclear for what charge Landry was on bail.

Members of the Carmel Fire Department and Carmel Ambulance squads searched a wild patch of woods on Five Road in Carmel Saturday afternoon for a man who was apparently having a diabetic episode.

Carmel firefighter and EMT Rick Goodell, who was the attending EMT, said the man, whose name and age were not released, made it about a quarter of a mile from his home in thick trees and brush. He was found walking near railroad tracks.

The search, which Goodell said took 10-15 minutes, began after family members called for help at about 4:30 p.m. when the man left the home after he became agitated.

The man was alert and ambulatory when found, Goodell said. His blood sugar levels were tested by Bangor Fire Department paramedics and the man was given oral glucose. He was not taken to the hospital. (Jessica Bloch, BDN)
