PORTLAND – Three assistant coaches have been dismissed following accusations of underage drinking at a party shortly after Deering High School won the state baseball championship in June.

The decision was made by Portland Superintendent Jeanne Whynot-Vickers and Deering Principal Ken Kunin after they looked into the party at an assistant coach’s home.

The dismissed coaches were Frank Watson, Michael D’Andrea Jr. and Chris Grant.

Kunin said previously that school officials wanted to know when adults became aware of the underage drinking and whether they acted swiftly and appropriately. Police also are investigating. They want to know who provided the alcohol.
