WATERVILLE – A Washington Post reporter who helped expose the mistreatment of wounded war veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center is this year’s winner of the Elijah Parish Lovejoy Award.
Anne Hull will be honored Sept. 28 at Colby College. The award is named for the Colby College alumnus killed in Alton, Ill., in 1837 while defending his abolitionist press against a pro-slavery mob.
Hull was a five-time Pulitzer Prize finalist before winning the award this year, along with reporter Dana Priest and photographer Michel du Cille, for the newspaper’s series on conditions at Walter Reed.
Hull will speak at the Lovejoy Convocation and receive an honorary doctoral degree.
