INDIAN RIVER – The Pleasant River Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Grange hall on Route 187 in Indian River.

The business meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Dues of $5 a person for 2009 are due at this meeting and officers will be elected.

Christi Mitchell will speak about the National Historic Register. Mitchell is involved in reviewing the buildings for nomination to the register.

A few of the items from the collection of the Pleasant River Historical Society are displayed in the showcase located in the Mayhew Library in Addison. The library is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
