Freeport’s Desert Road washed out and took a water main with it, causing much of the town to go without water service. Route 88 between the Yarmouth and Cumberland town lines was closed in both directions, and portions of U.S. Route 1 were also underwater in Freeport, WCSH-TV reported.
The Maine Emergency Management Agency warned that road conditions were changing rapidly and open roads could become flooded and closed quickly.
